Are Governments Necessary? Why and Why not.
People throughout many civilizations have implemented their own methods of governing themselves as a sovereign entity. Governments are necessary because they provide organization, protection, and laws. Other can argue that we don’t necessarily need governments. However, the reality is we do indeed need governments to stabilize ourselves.
Governments provide organization to the community in which people live in. The government also protects the people of a nation. Some ways of maintaining order is by creating laws. Without laws people are free to do what they want. People could take advantage and do things even if morally wrong. Laws also ensure lower crime rates. Laws are beneficial in a community because they ensures people rights. The government protects the nation as a whole with a strong military. This allows people to focus on other tasks that can help the community. Without any fear of being attacked, the nation can grow exponentially. These are examples of how governments are necessary and beneficial to society.
People can argue that governments are not a necessity. No government allows people to be entirely free. They have their own choice in what to do. If people can organize themselves without any central government, it might not be necessary. Learning how to live peacefully can be a first step. Having a government truly is beneficial. However, governments may not be necessity when people learn to respect each other’s basic human rights.
Government provide safety, organization and establish laws to help the nation function. When people learn to live morally and selfless, then a government wouldn’t be a necessity. To conclude, governments are beneficial to society, but not a necessity.
